Baby Eating Habits ? Which Approach Do You Take

One of the first decisions we make is if we breast feed or bottle feed our baby. This will be an emotional topic which ever option you choose. Nutrition is not just about preparing and serving food its much more complex and our own childhood experiences will have a great influence on this. Most parents will feel that the more their child eats the better. They feel that this is a reflection on their parenting and the more the child eats the more successful the parent. A child whose diet consists of dry cereal and juice will leave their parent feeling frustrated and embaressed, these emotions will not go unnoticed by the child and will have a knock on effect. In the case of a faddy eater this may cause the situation to get worse.Faddy eating is a normal stage in your childs development. A basic fact is that most children will go through a stage of faddy eating. This usually occurs during the toddler years when they go through a stage of being a bit obsessive about most things in their life. Most children go through an obsessive stage when they will only wear clothes of a ertain color or they will only eat one type of food. This is a very normal stage and will soon pass as long as the parent does not fall into the trap of focusing too much on the problem. The best approach to faddy eating is to stay calm, the chances of your child starving to death is very slim. As long as the child is drinking a lot of fluids and eating some food during the day he should be okay. Make sure that your child is getting the appropriate amount of vitamins and minerals, you can do this by putting a vitamin and mineral supplement into his drink, your local pharmasist can recommed one to suit your child. Most children will grow out of this phase, and for those who continue the high stress level of a parent will not help with the situation. All experts advise to keep all stress and arguments over food to a minimum. The more you focus on this the more you are aggravating the problem. Keep calm and tackle the situation clearly. Some practical tips to help you through this phase are:It is advisable for toddlers to drink one pint of milk per day. Measure up a pint glass of milk and leave this in the refriderator to be drawn from through out the day. A child should not drink more than this as they will fill up on milk leaving no room in the tummy for solid foods through out the day.At meal times don't give your child a drink until they are finished their meal as the fluids will give the sensation of being full and they will eat less food. This should encourage them to eat whats on their plate. The changing of a childs eating pattern will not happen over night. This will take some time and patents. Expect to make gradual progress with this phase.Your child doesn't have to get all its necessary food requirements at meal times. If your child refuses to sit down to a plate of food don't worry too much. A child can get all his food requirements from small nutritious snacks at regular intervals throughout the day. If your child accepts healthy snacks then these will help provide the range of nutrients they need.Don't take your childs eating habits personally. Sometimes a parent will get upset if their child is eating at cr

Hypertension, An Alternative Approach plus articles and information on Alternative

Hypertension, An Alternative Approach

For many years high blood pressure has been defined based upon actuarial
tables prepared by life insurance companies. By that definition, blood pressure
of 140/90 is borderline hypertension in a person 40 years of age. The
suppressed fact is that blood pressure should rise by 5 points for every decade
of life. Therefore, 145/95 is borderline hypertension in a person of 50 years
old; 150/100, in a person 60 years of age, etc. However, that standard is
almost never applied in prescribing high blood pressure medications.Recently, a new standard is being applied: 120/80 (for years the gold standard
in blood pressure) has been redefined as "pre-hypertension," with the
recommendation that medication be prescribed. And, there is no allowance for
increasing age. So, we see headlines such as "Hypertension - An Emerging
Epidemic" on WebMD.Another very important fact is that most primary hypertension is diagnosed as
"idiopathic," which basically means the doctors do not know what's causing it.
We've had a variety of medical recommendations for years, but the overall
impact has been minimal (as evidenced by the statistic in paragraph 1, above).
These recommendations include: 1) drug therapy, 2) exercise, 3) dietary
restrictions on salt and fat, 4) weight loss, and 5)avoidance of drugs, including
tobacco and caffeine. The medical point of view is that lifestyle changes are
inadequate.2I would like to share with you the basic mechanism of "essential" or "idiopathic"
hypertension. These terms are applied to primary hypertension unrelated to an
underlying disease of the kidney or diabetes. Essential hypertension is the
body's physiologic response to insuring an adequate blood supply to the brain. For a moment, we need to digress so that you have a picture of how the
circulatory system for the brain works. Inside the cranial vault, the blood
reaches the brain through the carotid and vertebral arteries. It is drained out
into the jugular vein through a system of sinuses which are actually formed by
the meningeal membranes. The meningeal membranes (or dura) are the
fibrous structures which separate the lobes of the brain and actually give the
brain its shape. They include the falx cerebri (which divides the two cerebral
hemispheres), the tentorium cerebelli (which separates the cerebellum from the
occipital lobe of the cerebral hemispheres), the falx cerebelli (which divides the
cerebellar hemispheres) and the diaphragma sellae (which covers the
depression in the skull in which the pituitary resides).3 {You may visit my
website RichardsFamilyHealth.com and view the articles on "Cranial" to view a
cross section of these structures.}Being membranous, the dura is affected by distortions in the cranial vault,
resulting in twisting of the sinuses and restriction of the outflow of blood from
the brain. Therefore, to bring in more fresh blood and oxygen, higher
peripheral pressure is required to force through the blockage. While in school,
I was privileged to see a dissection of an unpreserved cadaver, demonstrating
the lines of stress in the dura due to cranial distortions. Strokes may occur
when the cranium shifts, suddenly allowing a surge of high pressure through
the fragile capillaries in the brain.Interesting confirmation of this mechanism comes from veterinary medicine. A
giraffe has a peripheral blood pressure of about 350/300 in order to get blood
to the brain. Yet, their intracranial pressure is very similar to humans. They
also have a specialized vascular structure at the base of their brain to
compensate for changes in pressure as they raise and lower their heads while
feeding and drinking. The critical point is that the higher pressure is necessary
to pump the blood up into the brain. So, the question becomes: What can be done about essential hypertension?
Probably the most effective way to control it is through cranial adjusting,
restoring normal motion to the cranial vault and removing the restrictions
which cause the pressure to rise. I have spoken to many alternative health
practitioners, and the consensus of opinion is that the effect of herbal
interventions is minimal, compared to the benefits of cranial adjusting. As an
added benefit, cranial therapy is completely free of side effects! {See my article
on the side effects of high blood pressure medications at
www.richardsfamilyhealth.com).}Of course, if there is underlying pathology, either diabetes or renal disease,
that process needs to be addressed as well. In many instances, that means
herbal therapy or nutritional supplements.References1	The Seventh Report of the Joint National Committee on Prevention,

A Lifestyle Approach to Remedy Snoring

If you want to remedy snoring, you have to find the underlying cause. Snoring is not an affliction like the common cold, where you wake up one morning and you've just got it. It is something that normally arrives slowly over time. Most people can't remember the day and date that their snoring started. It was sometime in my mid 30's or some such vague description is the normal response to a question on its arrival. The lifestyle approach to remedy your snoring, doesn't treat it as a condition or a disease. But rather treats snoring as a symptom, or a warning, that the body is out of balance.I like to think of snoring like the ground proximity alarm in a modern jet aircraft. (The one that goes "WOOP! WOOP! PULL UP! PULL UP!", if the aircraft gets too close to the ground when it's not supposed to). If you are a pilot, you'd prefer not to hear it. But if you did, you would be grateful for the warning before dire consequences arrived. I'm sure the warning siren must be very annoying when it is activated but a lot less painful than the alternative. Likewise snoring is annoying, but not responding to the warning may have more serious consequences. The above example may seem extreme but the reality is there has been an enormous amount of research in recent years linking snoring to a range of serious conditions such as hypertension and coronary disease. The human body is a truly amazing machine. It has the ability to self regulate a complex array of interacting chemical and electrical processes within fine tolerances. This ability of homeostasis means the body can keep the internal systems (e.g. blood pressure, body temperature, acid-base balance) in equilibrium despite changes in the external environment. However if the body is subjected to persistent extreme conditions outside the normal bounds of function then it may not be able to rectify the situation without help. For instance if your body gets cold, it starts to shiver to maintain its core body temperature. But if your body is subjected to sub zero temperatures without any external heating then shivering alone will not be able to stop the inevitable deadly conclusion. But the act of shivering is, in itself, a warning for you to take some action; put some warmer clothes on for example.Snoring can be set off by a number of different balance upsets such as your diet, your breathing, your stress levels, and your physical environment. If you systematically work through these factors two important things are going to happen. You're eventually going to stop snoring and you'll end up with a healthier body.Once you start you may be pleasantly surprised, as often, a snoring solution doesn't always require a big change in your lifestyle.About The AuthorCopyright

A New Nutritional Approach for Both Pet Allergies and Allergies to Pets

A New Understanding of AllergiesAllergies of all kinds seem to be on the rise--both for people and for their pets. The exciting new science of Glycobiology points strongly to a common basis for many of these allergies; and the revolutionary new nutritional technology of glyconutrition, which has developed from this new science, is proving to be a very effective--and natural--way to help both pets and their owners get marked relief from their allergies.A recent 12-year longitudinal study with people who began the study as young, healthy adults found that the functional level of their immune systems declined, on average, at the rate of about 3% per year. This rapid decline is correlated with a corresponding increase in the incidence of auto-immune diseases and a proliferation of allergies of all kinds--including allergies to pets.Ironically, however, pets also are commonly afflicted with stubborn allergies that are a source of much distress--and expense--for their owners. And, very commonly--just as with their owners--medical interventions that mainly focus on treating the symptoms are quite ineffective. The findings of Glycobiology suggest that this prevailing approach may be barking up the wrong tree, so to speak, and that a nutritional intervention that, instead, supplies the body with crucial micronutrients that are lacking is likely to be far more effective.Glycobiology has now established that every cell in the mammalian body requires eight necessary sugar molecules in order to function effectively. These sugars combine with protein and fat molecules into glycoforms that attach themselves to the surfaces of every cell in the body. Under an electron microscope, they look like weird trees growing on the cell surface. One of their most important functions there is to allow cells to communicate effectively with each other. To the degree that these "super sugars" are deficient, cell-to-cell communication tends to break down and some form of illness starts to develop. An insufficiency of these sugar molecules is particularly disastrous for the immune system, because it causes the cells of the immune system to become, in effect, partially blind. These cells can then become over-reactive in attacking allergens of all kinds and even in attacking the tissues of the body; on the other hand, ironically, they may become under-reactive in attacking true pathogens that are serious threats to the body.Unfortunately, six of these crucially-important sugar molecules are seriously lacking in the modern diet. They are commonly found, however, in vine-ripened fruits and vegetables and also in many of the wild foods that our stone-age ancestors consumed in abundance. When these glyconutrients, as they are called technically (glyco from the Greek word for "sweet"), are provided in adequate quantity to the body through supplementation, all of the cells in the body start functioning much more effectively. This is especially true for cells in the immune system. As cell-to-cell communication improves in this system, it tends to become better modulated--that is, less likely either to over- or under-react. Correspondingly, allergies and auto-immune conditions tend to diminish or disappear.Just as these crucial glyconutrients are lacking in the modern diet for humans, they are similarly deficient in nearly all commercial pet food, which is also loaded with artificial dyes, perservatives and additives. The ancestors of our canine and feline pets--just like our human ancestors--have spent eons eating wild, natural foods, and this is what their systems are designed for. It is only in the last several decades that they--along with their owners--have been exposed to commercially prepared foods, as well as the chemicals these foods contain - chemicals that their bodies (as well as ours) cannot tolerate. In addition, artificial ingredients in these foods can trigger an immune response that, quite literally, can make pets sick.An Example of Applying this New ApproachThe following true story illustrates just how effective glyconutrition can be in helping to restore balance to a pet's over-reactive immune system.Ted, a Golden Retriever, is the pride and joy of his owner, Mary. His chronic, severe ear infections and skin rash, therefore, distressed her very much. She consulted with various Veterinarians and tried every kind of treatment she heard of to get them under control. But nothing worked. When a friend recommended glyconutritional supplements as a possible remedy, she was very skeptical. After giving Ted a teaspoon of glyconutritional powder, mixed with ice cream, once a day for about two weeks, however, his ear infections

The Maharishi Ayurveda Approach to Allergies

Allergies: The Ayurvedic AnswerIn a healthy body, the allergic response serves to protect against invasion by harmful agents. Secretions and inflammation help our immune cells get into the affected tissue, dilute the toxic agent and help wash it away. "Allergies" become a health problem when an excessive and unwanted allergic response occurs to particles that are part of our normal environment and are not actually dangerous to the body. Some individuals are born with allergies, and have a genetic susceptibility to them. However, most allergies are acquired after birth. While inborn allergies can often be helped by the measures discussed in this article, acquired allergies are generally more responsive to such behavioral approaches, and are the main focus of this article. The Main Cause of AllergiesAlthough pollen, dust, dander, trees and other allergens are the trigger for allergies in susceptible people, they are not the underlying cause. Many people are exposed to these substances every day without developing allergic reactions. Rather, it is the inner condition of the body that determines whether an allergic response results from exposure to an allergen.According to Maharishi Ayurveda, allergies result when the body has accumulated excess wastes, toxins and impurities. How does this happen? According to Ayurvedic theory, improperly digested foods (called ama), and impurities, such as chemical additives, are absorbed into the body, travel through the circulation and lodge in the respiratory tissues, skin and other tissues prone to allergy. These accumulated wastes and toxins block the channels, trapping the toxins inside the tissues, and activating the immune system. When additional allergens such as pollen or dust arrive on the scene, the already irritated immune system goes into "high gear," creating the symptoms of an allergy attack.Symptoms will vary depending on the tissue that has accumulated the toxic waste (ama visha.). If the tissue involved is the digestive tract, diarrhea can result. If in the skin, a rash or hives may occur. And if the respiratory tract is involved, sneezing, inflammation and mucous drainage will occur.Since the source of allergies lies with our diet and digestion, adopting a proper diet and improving digestion are "job one" in the fight against allergies. Next, it is valuable to use internal cleansing regimens to reduce the clogging and accumulated impurities.Recommended Diet for AllergiesThe main dietary and eating guidelines for allergies are as follows.1. Eat the largest meal of the day at lunch, between 12:00 and 1:00 PM, when your digestion is strongest. The sun-- the heat element in nature-- enlivens agni, the fire of digestion and metabolism, making our digestion strongest at the height of the day. Ayurveda recommends eating the largest meal when you are most capable of digesting it.2. Avoid eating heavy meals in the evening. The single biggest contribution to toxins and clogging in the body comes from eating heavy evening meals, particularly after 7 PM. Since digestion is much weaker in the evening, it is vital to eat lighter, more easily digested meals at that time. Eat a warm, freshly cooked vegetarian evening meal without fried foods, desserts, cheese, yogurt or other curdled products, since these are heavy for digestion and cause more blockage, congestion and mucous.3. Eat warm food. Warm food is much easier to digest than cold food. Ayurveda recommends we eat fresh warm food, freshly prepared. Avoid micro-waving, which has been shown to destroy over 90% of the protective antioxidants in the food. Also, avoid cold drinks, ice cream, frozen yogurt and other cold foods.4. Avoid leftovers. Once food has been heated and then gets put back in the refrigerator it becomes hard to digest and very clogging in nature.5. Avoid excessively hot spices, sour and acidic foods. These foods are irritating to the body and promote inflammation, according to Ayurveda. Many people experience their allergies become worse when they eat foods with chilis, tomato sauces, hard or aged cheeses, refined sugar and sweets, and acidic foods. Bell pepper, eggplant and potato should also be avoided due to their channel-clogging effects.6. Do include detoxifying spices in your daily diet. Turmeric in particular has anti-allergy, immune-balancing effects. Coriander helps to detoxify on a cellular level; fennel cools and balances; ginger helps the digestion and dissolves ama, and black pepper clears the channels and increases bioavailability of nutrients. Make a spice mixture of 6 parts fennel, cumin and coriander, 4 parts turmeric and 1 part each of ginger and black pepper. Freshly grind the spices, saut

Dosha theory which help in diagnosis of the diseases.According to ayurveda three doshas or three energetic forces control the activities of the body. These doshas are1.	Vata
2.	Pitta
3.	KaphaVATA: The Vata dosha is the most important of the three doshas. It has been said in ayurveda classic books that " pitta , Kapha and all other body tissues are considered lame without assistance of VATA ." Vata dominates the lower part of the body, which is below umbilicus. The movements of body fluid, metabolism, elimination of waste products, semen ejaculation, pushing the fetus out of body, relaying stimulus to brain and response to organs and tissues, heart beat, respiration, body movements etc are assisted by VATA.Vata dominated regions are intestines, lumbar region, ears, bones and skin.Vata gets vitiated due to following reasons.1.	Controlling natural urges like urination, defecation, hunger, thirst, etc.
2.	Late nights.
3.	Irregular food habits.
4.	Talking in a high pitch.
5.	Over physical and mental exertion.
6.	Consumption of spicy, dry, bitter foods.
7.	Exposure to severe dry and cold climate. The opposites of above-mentioned reason normalize the vitiated vata.PITTA: The pitta dosha assists the body fire or Agni, which plays a major role in body's metabolic activities. The locations where pitta dominates are digestive system, skin, eyes, brain, and blood. Pitta maintains body temperature. The secretions like digestive juices pigments like melanin (bhrajaka pitta), hemoglobin (ranjaka pitta) are all types of pitta.Pitta is dominant in regions of Umbilicus, stomach, sweat, lymph, blood, eyes and skin.Vata gets vitiated due to following reasons.1.	Excess consumption of spicy, sour, salty foods.
2.	Consuming alcohol in excess.
3.	Over exposure to hot sunny climate.
4.	Short temperedness.
5.	Using dried vegetables.
6.	Indigestion of food. The opposites of above-mentioned reason normalize the vitiated pitta.KAPHA: Kapha provides bulk to body, lubrications, moistness, fertility, stability, strength, and memory. Helps in binding process wherever necessary. This is heaviest of all doshas.Kapha dominated regions are chest, neck, head, stomach, body fat, nose and tongueKapha gets vitiated due to following reasons.1.	Sleeping in daytime.
2.	Consuming sweets, chilled food, in excess.
3.	Consuming fish, sesame, sugarcane, milk and milk products. The opposites of above-mentioned reason normalize the vitiated kapha. When these doshas are in balanced condition the body remains healthy. If these doshas get imbalanced the body succumbs to diseases. Doshas get imbalanced frequently due to change in climate, seasons, lifestyles, diet etc. The treatment is to bring back the doshas to normalcy and expel the toxin or ama produced during the imbalanced condition.Causes of Genital HerpesHerpes is caused by a virus the herpes simplex virus (HSV), which belongs to the same family of viruses that cause chickenpox. There are two types of herpes simplex viruses1.	Herpes simplex type 1 (HSV-1) and mostly causes oral herpes
2.	Herpes simplex type 2 (HSV-2). And mostly causes genital herpesHowever, both type-1 and type-2 can occur in the genitals, oral area or both.
Due to unhealthy life styles and diet the delicate balance between doshas get disturbed. This disturbs the body fire or Agni.
(Agni is the body fire, which is responsible for transformation of one substance to another. It breaks down the food substances, eliminates toxins and wastes, maintains body temperature, and resists the invasion of microbes by maintaining strong body immunity. The body fire, which is assisted by balanced doshas, digests the food completely to form Pakwa Anna rasa (the liquid form of food which is completely digested by digestive enzymes), which is ready to get absorbed by body tissues. According to ayurveda Pakwa Anna Rasa nourishes the body and its components to keep the body devoid of diseases. But when body fire is impaired there will be an incomplete digestion of food forming Apakwa Rasa (indigested food). The indigested food fails to nourish the body components leading to lowered body resistance.)The disturbed Agni fails to digest the food and toxins get accumulated in body due to improper metabolism. Accumulation of toxins reduces the body immunity and paves the way for invasion by microbes.
When a person who has low immunity comes in contact with HSV virus, he/she gets the genital or oral herpes.Unhealthy lifestyle1.	Over eating
2.	Sleeping in afternoons.
3.	Over physical exertion.
4.	Over mental exertion
5.	Consuming food frequently even when not hungry.
6.	Constant exposure to hot sunny climatesUnhealthy dietExcessive consumption of1. Salty, sour, hot, spicy food.
2.	Sour curds
3.	Alcohol.
4.	Cheese
5.	Charred and overcooked food.
6.	Sesame, Bengal gram, horse gram, sesame oil, rice flour, garlic, fish.Opposite foods1.	Curds, salt, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, sour fruits, meat, prawn, pork, should not be consumed with milk. The above-mentioned foods should not be consumed by mixing one item with another.2.	Sprouts, honey and milk should not be consumed with meat and fish.3.	Fish & milk: fish &sugarcane juice; jaggery & pork; honey & pork; milk & mango; banana & milk; are opposite foods. The Transmission Of genital HerpesA person can get genital herpes in following conditions1.	If he is sexual active and when he performs sex (oral or genital) with infected partners.2.	A person who has oral herpes transmits herpes to genital organs of a partner during oral sex and a person who has genital herpes transmits this to his partner during coitus when they have a genital contact.3.	The disease gets transmitted when mucous membrane comes in contact with infected area. The disease gets transmitted mostly during active phase. But it may spread even during asymptomatic (when person is free of symptoms for a particular duration) phase. The virus needs a fluid media for its transportation. The body fluids like saliva, semen, vaginal tract secretions etc. Mucous membranes in mouth, vagina, urethra or open wounds facilitate the virus invasion due to their moistness. In Genital herpes there is an imbalance of all three doshas (VATA, PITTA, KAPHA), which in turn vitiate lasika (lymph), blood (rakta), muscle (mamsa) and skin (twacha). The imbalanced doshas vitiate skin and the immunity of skin cells is lowered. The virus attacks these weak cells and starts exhibiting symptoms on affected area.Local symptoms1.	Pricking sensation2.	Edema3.	Pain4.	Feeling of constriction5.	A sensation of ant creeping6.	Many small eruptions gathering in a small area.7.	These eruptions or blisters burst soon with exudates.8.	These blisters will have different colors according to involvement of doshas. (Blackish red or blue in vata, red, yellow, copper colored in pitta, shades of white in kapha). The weakened body immune system tries to resist the virus invasion but fails to achieve the goal. In this futile attempt the following systemic symptoms are exhibited.Systemic symptoms1.	Fever
2.	Weakness
3.	Indigestion
4.	Impaired bowels
5.	Increased frequency of urination.
6.	Body pain.
7.	Increased thirst.Imbalanced vata causes the symptoms like pain, swelling and body acheThe imbalanced pitta and vitiated blood and skin cause1.	Blisters,
2.	Change the color of skin,
3.	Cause burning sensation, and fever. The imbalanced kapha and vitiated lymph cause itching, tingling sensation. After the first attack the virus moves from skin through the nerve paths to base of the nerve and becomes inactive. Now the herpes infected person will be devoid of all symptoms. But the imbalance of doshas still persists.Reactivation of Virus to cause outbreaksAt unpredictable times, the virus becomes active. It multiplies and resurfaces on skin by traveling through the nerve path and exhibits the symptoms locally. The severity of symptoms of out break depends on the strength of body immunity. The pelvis or shroni, nerves and skin are dominated by vata. When vata gets vitiated due to precipitating factors, it reactivates the virus dormant in base of nerve end and the virus travel through nerve paths to reach the skin surface.Precipitating FactorsAs we know the outbreaks have few precipitating factors like1.	Excessive exposure to sun.
2.	Illness,
3.	Poor diet,
4.	Emotional stress
5.	Physical stress,
6.	Friction,
7.	Steroids
8.	Menstruation.
9.	Emotional stress.
10.	Genital trauma and intercourse.
11.	Repeated infections such as a cold or pneumonia. These factors increase vata and increased vata activates the virus, which is dormant.Low Immunity The systemically imbalanced doshas interfere with the body metabolism by vitiating the body fire (agni). This leads to indigestion and malassimilation of nutrients, which in turn causes poor immunity. Due to decreased immunity the body fails to offer resistance to outbreaks.Ayurveda Tips to avoid outbreaksAvoid1.	Spicy, sour, fried and junk food, which aggravates vata.
2.	Precipitating factors.
3.	Sleeping in afternoon.
4.	Meat products over fried or deep fried in oil or fat.
5. Charred and overcooked food.
6. Consuming opposite food like fish and milk etc
7. Physical exertion after a meal
8. Taking bath immediately after exercise or heavy outdoor work.Include honey, pomegranate, and fruits of Emblica officinalis, legumes, dates and raisins in your diet.Practice Yoga and Meditation to control emotional disturbancesAyurveda References1. Sushruta Samhita
2.	Charaka Samhita

Ezines ? An Excellent Approach To Internet Marketing

What is an ezine? An ezine is an abbreviation for "electronic magazine", also simply put, a "newsletter". Ezines are extremely popular today and are used as an excellent way to attain information through the Internet.Ezines can be found through a publishers website or in ezine directories. The easiest way to find a newsletter on a certain topic is through ezine directories. There are hundreds of directories on the web today that put each newsletter into a searchable category. An interesting aspect is that you can attain information on almost any subject, from health issues, gardening, cooking, home business, real estate, cars to pets. When you go to an ezine directory you simply search for a topic of interest and click on that category. It will bring up a page filled with publisher's newsletters covering the information you requested.Clicking on one of the titles will give you the information on that publisher's newsletter. It will give you the author's name, description, date it was published, number of subscribers, how to subscribe and the type of ads they accept.Newsletters are sent to subscribers by email from daily to monthly and anywhere in-between depending on the publisher.Types of Ezine Directories:To search for newsletters in ezine directories there are two types of directories you can use, there are paid and free directories. The paid directories usually are more organized and easiest to use. Most of these directories offer quality newsletters that are updated more frequently than the free directories. They also provide a large database that you can search for newsletters by the size of circulation, publishers name, category, etc. These features can save you a great deal of time. Plus most of these directories will offer support to get you through the process.Advertising In An Ezine:Because of the popularity of newsletters, they are also looked at as an excellent way to promote your business by placing ads in targeted publications. When it comes to advertising in a newsletter, there are publishers that charge a fee for the placement of your ad, as well as free ad placement with other publishers. To place a free ad in a newsletter, most publishers require that you subscribe to their newsletter before they let you place an ad in their publication. You will find in most cases that their subscriber list will be much smaller than putting an ad in a paid ezine. To advertise in a paid ezine, you will find publishers with a subscriber list from a few thousand to over 800,000 subscribers. You will find the higher their subscriber list, the higher the cost of the ad. The price of the ad also depends on the type of ad you are purchasing. The type of ad you choose will determine the placement, duration, and how many lines you can use in your ad.When advertising in an ezine, look for newsletter publications that are in relationship to your website, products, or services. Once you have found a few, subscribe to them so you can see first hand the quality of their newsletter. Another reason for subscribing to their newsletter is you would want to know how many ads they use in their publications. If you come across a newsletter that uses too many ads, you may want to consider going elsewhere. Any newsletter that is over saturated with advertisements is usually not worth your time or money, as your ad can be easily overlooked. Look for publications that focus more on solid content with only 2 ? 3 ads.Remember choosing the right newsletter to advertise in can play a crucial roll in the results you receive from your ads.Our advice when starting out is to try using the free ezines to advertise in. It will give you a better feel of the ins and outs of ezine advertising. Even more important, you need to experiment with writing good ads and a strong headline that gets the viewers attention. When you first place an ad in a newsletter you are testing the waters. In some cases you may not get the results you were looking for. It may be just your heading that needs to be changed or the content of your ad. Sometimes just by changing a few words or the format will give you better results. The idea is to test different ads to see which ones work well; it's all about trial and error. This is a common practice used by your most successful marketers. If you make a few mistakes, remember this method cost you nothing.Once you have a couple solid ads that work for you, than your ready to go to the paid ezines with the larger subscriber list.John Kovacs is the CEO and founder of "A Home Business Opportunity". His website mainly focuses on supplying free marketing tips, resources and support for home startup businesses and Internet marketing. To get a step-by-step guide in building an online business, visit http://www.ahomebusinessopportunity.netTo search for ezine directories, you can cut your time in half by going to http://www.ahomebusinessopportunity.net/ezine.htm - there you will find both types of directories, paid and free.

How a Multi-Faceted Approach to Site Promotion Can Secure Your Search Engine Positions

Copyright 2005 Tinu AbayomiPaulIn my last article on site promotion, I talked about why using one site promotion technique is a short-term solution. Now I'm going to illustrate why site promotion is multi-faceted, and show an example of how these techniques can build on one another to help you get better search engine results from your search engine optimization efforts, as well as more traffic to your site overall. Then, in the next part, I'll tell you more about what some of the components to site promotion are, and how they can work together to help you maintain your travel levels and search engine position despite the ever-changing search engine algorithms.Truly effective site promotion lies in using a group of tools and techniques to draw traffic to your site from many sources that build on each other, rather than just one.To illustrate how some of these promotion techniques work together and build on each other, we need to go back to the previous example of my own site for a moment. Each day, I get about 80 - 100 visitors to just my home page from search engines - this month you can verify that by looking at the referrer list at the bottom of my home page (see the resource box at the end of the article). As stated in the last article, visitors clicked through to my site for 1959 different keyphrases. 15% of those phrases yielded more than 10 unique visitors, with the top result sending 214 people to my site. That traffic is invaluable and shows proof of how you can use my multi-pronged methodology to enable you to get top rankings even for more difficult terms. The methods I use are a combination of different website promotion methods that have combined to keep me consistently ranking in first page results for literally hundreds of terms. One of the more difficult of these feats was ranking for the term "free traffic" in both Google and Yahoo on the first page.So how do I use other site promotion techniques to help keep my site from being dropped from search engine results? And how can you learn how to do the same?Okay, let's go back to our example, and look at May again. The next most frequent way I get a visitor to my site is from someone clicking through to a link - 15 -20% of my traffic comes this way.My stats say that "1663 different pages-url" that were linked to me brought me visitors. The top three links back to me brought me over 1700 visitors. After the top thirty, most links brought me only 10 visitors or less each. But even when a site brings me only one visitor, having several hundred sites do this adds up to a lot of potential clients. So, obviously, getting links back to my site wasn't the only important part of this particular method of site promotion. It was getting people to actually click through those links to my site. The trick is to get your link listed in places where visitors who are looking for your information will be, and getting that link to appear with keyword related text that you control.Syndicating your site via RSS is one of the ways that this feat can be made easier - but again, they are but a part of a well-rounded search engine solution. And there are certain things you need to think about when setting up your blog that yield the most search-engine friendly results, as alluded to in part three of this series.Do you know what else is important about having many links pointing back to your site? Other than the fact that, set up correctly, a percentage of people will click on them and visit you? It's the fact that search engines often find new content to include in their results through links that follow back through to your site. That's one of the top functions of the search engine spiders that crawl the web. They follow links that lead to other links, and so on, deciding how to fill a deficit in their databases with the sites they find. Not only that, but if the search engine algorithms should all change today, and state that quantity of links pointing back to you will give you only a little bit of positive karma, and that, from now on, only the quality of those links really gives you a big boost, if you used the methods I teach, including ways to optimize your links, you'd still covered. This isn't particularly difficult to emulate - if you use a multitude of ways to promote your site to search engines, as well as other ways to increase your site's traffic. Each one of the techniques builds on the others, helping you maintain your search engine rankings, and bringing new visitors from other sources. I'll have a sample list for you and a few resources in the next part.Read part three of this article in the Free Traffic Tips blog at http://www.freetraffictip.com/site-promotion-3 . (If you missed part one you can read it there too.)

Common Sense Approach To Pregnancy Weight Loss

Ok so everyone gains weight while they are pregnant. This is perfectly normal. It is also perfectly normal for a woman to want to lose that weight after pregnancy. We have established this much at this point in time. There is absolutely nothing wrong with aspiring to get yourself back into shape right after your pregnancy, in fact I certainly encourage it!It is important however that you take a common sense approach when you are attempting to lose weight after your pregnancy. Remember, the weight will not come off overnight, but it will come off if you go about it in the right way.It is very important that you don't try to fit back into your pre-pregnancy clothes right after birth. For one you will still be bloated and swollen from the delivery. You will also still be carrying around most of the fat you gained to help keep your baby safe and sound during pregnancy.Usually the majority of women can safely lose between one and two pounds a week after the birth of their baby. This rate will help ensure a safe, healthy and steady weight loss without compromising mom's health or the health of the new baby.Article by Beverley Brooke, author of "Ensure a healthy safe pregnancy for you and your baby", visit http://www.pregnancy-weight-loss.com for more on pregnancy weight loss

Part Time Internet Marketing with A Full Time Approach plus articles and information on Internet-Marketing

Part Time Internet Marketing with A Full Time Approach

The deluge of people wanting to make money on the internet has exploded in the past few years. It's getting to the point where anyone that has a computer has heard of or has been tempted by such income. From affiliate marketing to playing around on e-bay, "wanna-be" Internet marketers and online business entrepreneurs are abundant. This explosion has in part, been fueled by entrepreneurs that have "day jobs." Internet marketing and online business, "on the side" is commonplace with today's "day job" work force. The online business explosion is also due to the myriad of opportunities available, the tools available and all of the knowledge right at our mouse tips. Another driver is the whole notion of continuous learning. These same entrepreneurs from all walks of life realize that learning the internet, learning marketing, learning about the tools and information at hand is a continuous learning experience. That is, if they want to be a player and do things right. New methods, new tools, new information are emerging daily. Staying on top of the latest trends is just as important as learning a fundamental base.Internet marketing and having an online business can be done part time and appear as if it is full time. These part-timers can have that full-time business, "on the side." In the virtual world, the behind the scenes operations are numerous and by definition do not have to be viewed as part time. The key is to use a full time, automated system that pays the proper amount of attention to prospects and customers. The number one reason people don't buy immediately from an online business or website is that they don't see value right away. Sometimes value is there but the casual browser misses it. What is needed is an automatic system that can contact the browser again and again to communicate the marketing message, its benefits and most importantly its ultimate value. This automatic system gives the marketer the full time attention necessary to sell online. One way to do this is with an autoresponder system. An autoresponder is best described as a "fax on demand system for e-mail." It is an automatic email sender that sends your marketing and sales message to those expressing interest in what you offer. The exciting part is that it can continuously send follow up emails to the prospects as frequently as you designate. If the autoresponder is framed properly, your chances of getting an order increase with each message and/or each contact to a prospect. This is known as a sequential autoresponder and is the basis of all automatic full time Internet marketing systems.Once you get attention, interest and desire from your browser and they take the action to sign up for something, you then respond to their request with more attention, on a regular, full time basis.A good autoresponder is worth its weight in gold. Many times you will be thankful for email being sent on your behalf because you don't have to take the time to send manually. The autoresponder sends it but makes you appear as if you were paying full time attention to your customers.Another automatic step of internet marketing offering full time attention is the one step autoresponder. "Send a blank e-mail to (xxxx@xxxx.com) to receive a free special report on (a subject designated by you)." This comes in real handy in an e-zine for instance. You can shorten the ezine articles, (which internet browsers and readers prefer) by stating, "?for the rest of this article send a blank email to xxxx2@xxx.com." This is a time message autoresponder. Your reader gets the article in his or her email box and you get notified of someone with a particular interest (not to mention permission to market to subsequently). We could spend all of our time here just on this one powerful, automatic, full time weapon, the autoresponder, but there are other parts to your automatic, full time, attention giving, marketing system.1. Pop Up Windows - one strategy that utilizes automation is the exit pop up box. Be creative in the message to try and snag a person that has already decided to leave your site. Use a free offer or reduced price or a bribe to get the browser to take one more look, one more consideration and maybe even a purchase. After all when the browser is leaving, you have lost the sale. Pop Up boxes try one more time to snag their interest. Any sale from a last ditch effort is like a bonus to you. They were leaving anyway so be creative.2. Free e-course - a variation of autoresponder emails, sent out on regular intervals can be called or marketed as an e-course. Remember, getting an interested party's email address is gold in the world of internet marketing. These interested parties are more likely to buy from you, now or later, as you market to them over and over.3. Check out http://www.Aweber.com for a recommended autoresponder. They offer Unlimited autoresponders, follow ups, email broadcasts, and even offer a free test drive. Some web hosting services and shopping cart systems also offer autoresponders.4. Autoresponders, e-courses, follow up messages and pop up boxes can be set up to:Offer a free subscription to your ezine.Offer a sample or trialConvert prospects to paying clientsCreate loyal fansOffer free special reports positioning you as an expertGiving something of value away for free to keep interestAll of the above systems are your automated sales force. Because you do all the work preparing and setting up, once they are unleashed, they do all the work for you, automatically, 24/7. You go to your day job knowing your automatic sales force is hard at work. The easiest, fastest and most cost effective way to increase your online business is to increase your follow up efforts. Anything set up automatically to do this is the answer.
