Seven Must Follow Rules While Participating In Message Boards

Seven Must Follow Rules While Participating In Message Boards

Participating in message boards (forums) discussions is a great way of self promotion. It costs you nothing. Not even a penny. All you have to do is allot sometime for this type of promotion. Before you getting started you need to know some must follow principles. You want your time to be profitable for you. Right? So what ever time you are gonna spend should bring you some profits. What are those principles?***1. Target your promotion:***If you are search engine optimization expert, then you will be benefited by search engine forums. People coming to those forums need help in their web site optimization. If you are willing to share your knowledge with those people, you will gain their confidence and needless to say few customers too.***2. Always follow the forum rules:***In some forums or some areas of forums self promotion is not allowed. At the same time, some sub-forums are alloted to post your product advertisement. So read carefully before posting your product details anywhere on the forum.***3. Use signature files:***Almost all the forums allow signature files. These may be less than 4 lines or less than some 250 characters. This varies from forum to forum. So be concise with your wording. Most IMPORATNT advice is always offer something free in your signature file. Free report on how to increase sales, free email course on how to design a web site that pulls orders or any topic that focuses on your web site theme. This always beats keeping your product price in your signature file. You can built your opt-in list too.In signature files DON'T hide URL with 'Click here' as link text. Let people accustom to your web site name or your product name. If you just use as 'Click here' instead of 'SEO tips and tricks', it looks dull and less interesting.***4. Change the heading while answering a question:***If somebody ask a question like - 'What are web site promotion methods?'.In reply you can change the heading to what ever you want instead of 'Re:What are web site promotion methods?'You can keep an interesting heading to make your post prominent from others. Like 'FOUR best methods to start with...' or 'Advertising with out spending a penny.' etc. These type of headings certainly attracts people's eyes.***5. Give respect to others opinions:***Don't say harsh words even though you know what other person saying is wrong. Be polite. What you want to say tell it clearly and concisely. If you don't know a topic still you want to comment on that, add 'in my opinion..., as far i know...' etc. Point out to resources if you know any.***6. Follow up the thread:***If you start participating in a thread, then check the box that says 'Email Notification'. When ever somebody replies your question, email will be sent to you. So you can post a reply or follow others answers and opinions. What is the use of this? =You may end up with learning something from that discussion =It could be a topic for your next ezine article or ebook or a report =You can get to know of people of that thread***7. Every day allot some time:***Save the forum URLs in your favorites folder. Everyday try to visit them regularly. By this you can know the what is going on around you. You may know good resources and free information links that are useful to you. If you come across any information that is useful to you save them on your computer.About The AuthorRadhika Venkata - Subscribe to 'EbookBiz Magazine' which is completely focused on ebook business and Internet Marketing. How to Market on Forums and Message Boards Without Upsetting Anyone

How to Market on Forums and Message Boards Without Upsetting Anyone

Believe it or not, you can market on forums and message boards without pissing anyone off. In fact, not only can you market this way, you SHOULD market this way, and I'll tell you why later in this article. But for now, I'd like to point out that the reason I'm writing this article is because someone on an affiliate forum that I frequent got kicked out of an affiliate program for spamming a message board community. He'd posted his opinion of the affiliate product in the "personal opinions" section of the board, and the moderator of the community reported him to the merchant, who then kicked him out of the affiliate program. There's a big difference between expressing your opinion and marketing a product. Often the difference can be discerned as easily as discerning the tracking code in an affiliate URL for a product. I moderate at several forums online, and I despise dealing with spammers who think it's okay to blatantly market to my readers without contributing anything of value to my community. So here are my rules for marketing on forums without pissing anyone off.1- Participate in a forum that allows links to your website in your signature. If the discussion board doesn't allow links in your signature, go find one that does.2- PARTICIPATE in the forum. Ask pertinent questions. Make pithy observations. Answer others' questions if you know the correct answers. Try to post something daily, maybe more often. Just be sure that you're not just participating to get your link in front of people; participate in the forum in order to add value to the members' experiences there. The rewards in terms of higher click-through's and conversions are well worth it.3- Include a link to your website in your signature file in a normal sized font. That's it. That's all there is to it. How does this help your marketing? Well, you should be participating in forums at least partially related or of interest to the people who hang out in a forum. So some of them will click on your signature link just out of interest. And, if you post intelligently and often, you will gradually become recognized as an expert in that area. And that will make you more attractive. You'll begin to get link exchange requests, links, and requests for help from indviduals on the forums. This is when you know your strategy is working.Marketing on forums and message boards isn't for the faint of heart, or for the lazy spammer. But if you're willing to make appropriate effort, you'll get appropriate returns. The author is a full time affiliate webmaster who manages and promotes several sites in several industries. Using Message Boards Properly

Using Message Boards Properly

We all have our own reasons for joining message boards. Maybe its to meet some friends, or find some ideas for your business. Maybe you just needed a place to announce your party. Whatever the reason, are you using them properly? There are several purposes of a message board:1. Meet new people/network ~ This does not mean finding people to advertise to. Networking means just meeting people. A person you meet can do several different things:- Become a customer- Introduce you to another customer- Open up other networking opportunities- Become a partner- Become a friend2. Share Idea/Get Opinions ~ Key word here being SHARE. Asking for ideas and opinions is good, but giving them is more important. Be sure you are giving back to the community.3. Announce Specials and Events ~ This should be done only in appropriate categories and only if you are active in the community. Some "don'ts" of message boards:- Don't spam the board by posting your ads in inappropriate categories or threads. For example, in a category called "Parenting Advice", don't post your special on toys.- Don't just post when someone is looking for a business. Get involved with the community and help people as much as you can without promoting your business to them.- Don't rely on everyone else to start posts, start some yourself. If everyone else waited for someone else to post, no one would be posting. Share and experience with a party, or about an interesting article you read. Just get the conversation going!- Don't join just to promote your business. If you join expecting your sales to explode, think again. Remember you are here for support, to share ideas, and make some friends. Sales will come eventually, and will probably not be directly. There are all kinds of message boards, so be sure to follow the rules on each. A few of my favorite boards are:Mommy's Helper Community: http://www.mommyshelperonline.com/phpBB2/index.phpWAHM.com:
