Scrapbook Photos — Getting Adventurous With Your Layouts-Hobbies

Scrapbook Photos -- Getting Adventurous With Your Layouts

When you have selected the photos for your scrapbook, you'll need to decide how best to lay them out on the pages. Don't feel obliged to follow any principles that don't suit your own design. There are no specific rules stating that all photographs
or mementos must be placed in chronological order. It is completely up you to
decide in what order you wish to place your items and embellishments.Choosing Your LayoutYou can place your photos in a formal chronological order if you want. You can also
group them into formal or informal categories according to similar colors, events,
activities, individuals or families. Photographs can also be placed into random or
abstract arrangements, or collages. Each style has its own place in scrapbooking. For instance, a chronological order
might be useful for an anniversary scrapbook. Pictures and mementos of the
couple's years together could be placed from the first day they met through the
wedding day to the present day with each time period on a different page.On the other hand, a scrapbook for a parent might just have a collage of photos
and drawings to create a sense of the character of their family and their lives
together.Getting Creative With Borders And FramesNext time you want to find materials to make scrapbook photo frames, have a look
in your sewing box or craft cupboard. You'll almost certainly find bits of ribbon, lace
or embroidery cotton that can be re-used to make fascinating and unusual borders
for pictures, photos, text or even entire pages. These items can be used in many different ways by the scrapbooker and help create
a sense of theme or mood, as well as contributing color and texture to your pages.Ribbons and LaceRibbon and lace are by far the most common and most beautiful border
embellishments. The flowing nature of both materials encourages a touch of
softness and elegance. Ribbon and lace are especially popular in gift and memory
scrapbooks. Ribbon is easy to glue and attach. Lace requires a bit more patience. For an interesting change from ribbon and lace, try using jute or raffia.Embroidery CottonEmbroidery cotton can be used in a number of interesting scrapbooking ways.
Individual fibers can be used to add a focus to special items or used to give
dimension to artwork or drawings.Embroidery fibers can also be twisted or braided for use in artwork or as imaginative
borders. Embroidery cotton can even be used to tie down other items in a beautiful
and creative way.HempHemp can be used for a number of purposes in scrapbooking. Single, twisted, or
braided fibers can be used to add focus as picture frames, or along the edges of the
scrapbook page as a border. Hemp looks especially good in scrapbooks with a
western theme. In general, hemp can also be used to make a scrapbook appear
more masculine.Hemp glues quite easily and hides glue messes well. To increase the likelihood that
a piece of hemp will stay in place while the glue is drying, place a piece of scotch
tape over the rope until the piece dries fully.Always trust your own instincts and have the confidence to organize and decorate
your scrapbook according to how you see the people and events it represents. That
way your work will form a unique record and have even greater personal value.Nigel Patterson is a writer on arts and crafts and the publisher of

Scrapbooking Tips And Tricks For Photos And Images-Hobbies

Scrapbooking Tips And Tricks For Photos And Images

When you're incorporating pictures of any kind into your scrap book, why not set them off with an unusual finish? This could be an original idea for a border or frame -- or an arrangement of several items on the page to add a little drama. Here are a couple of tips that might do well for a children's album -- perhaps a keepsake baby scrapbook, or just a page for a boy or girl.Adding Dimension To Your PhotosOne good way to add dimension to images is to use double stick foam squares. These are pieces of double stick foam tape that literally allow items to pop out at your reader adding realism to items. This trick is especially useful in children's art and educational scrapbooks.Simply cut the foam tape into whatever shape and size you want. Then, attach to shape onto your scrapbook page. These 3D foam squares are available from most craft suppliers.Pop Up Windows To Enhance Baby ScrapbooksEveryone who has ever read with children knows how much they love pop-up books. And very young children adore those books in which they 'lift the flap' to find what's hidden in the picture underneath. So why not build some pop up windows into your baby boy or girl scrapbook?!This fun trick allows items to be viewed and then hidden once again. It's a great technique for educational scrapbooks where text outside the window asks a question and the answer is held inside the window. To make a pop up window, divide a piece of paper into three sections. This paper can either match, complement, or contrast with your background color. Next, paste the middle section of your pop up window to your background. Place your object or photograph on top of this middle section. Then, simply close the window.A nice bow or other embellishment can also be added onto the outside of these windows to add an elegant touch.Nigel Patterson is a writer on arts and crafts and the publisher of Create Your Own Scrapbooks, a website devoted to scrapbook ideas, tips and tricks.Visit his website for new and imaginative scrapbook techniques -- so you can maintain your most treasured mementos and present them artistically for you, your family and your friends to enjoy.

Organize 1000?s Of Photos Easily-Hobbies

Organize 1000?s Of Photos Easily

The easiest way is to start right from the beginning, your pregnancy. Chronological order is an easy way to organize your photos, that's if you remembered to write all the dates down.If you're like me, you didn't exactly start out that way. So here are some tips to get your photos organized and ready for scrapbooking.THE DATE!The date may not seem urgent for you to write out because you may think that you will easily remember what "month" your baby was at in the pictures. But when they hit 4 or 5 months old, it can be hard to determine which month they're in.So.....As soon as you pick up your pictures from the developer go home and write the date (if you have a photo safe pencil) on the back of each picture.Or you could get on the computer and type all the details out onto labels and put that on the back of each picture. Also make a label for each negative too.STORAGETake your photos OUT of the envelope they came in and put them into a storage box or file folder.A great way to store your negatives is to put them into a storage sheet and into a binder. This way all your negatives are stored together, safely, and out of the way.STAYING ORGANIZEDA great way to stay organized and up to date is to take at least 1 roll of film of the baby each month. This way the next time you go grocery shopping just drop the film in and pick it up on your way out, quick & easy. You can now sit down and do your 2 page layout. When you're finished, put the extra pictures away in storage.COMMIT YOURSELFWe all have such busy lives these days and usually the only time we commit to scrapbooking is when we go to a crop.If you commit to at least once a month to sit down and do your 2 page layout of your baby, you'll be completing an album in no time. Now if you want to sit and do 2 or 3 spreads, then by all means, please do.IF YOUR CHILD IS OLDERIf you are scrapbooking your child's baby pictures then get them involved too! We all know that scrapbooking is an awesome time to bond and build relationships with people. Why not your own child? Get them organizing & helping you out.Focus more on what was happening in the picture to help you remember at what age your baby was. If you can't remember, then scrapbook the pictures by the event. It doesn't necessarily have to be on chronological order. :) Follow these above steps and you will stay organized and up to date on your baby's first year.
