Decorating a Childs Room - 8 Simple Strategies to Make You Both Happy!

When it comes to decorating a child's room, your approach should be much different from decorating an adult bedroom. For kids, their bedroom is where they play games, read, listen to music, day-dream, or just go to be alone sometimes. So use these eight strategies to help create a space that will make you both happy:1. Talk to your child. Find out what activities and fantasies he or she enjoys; what their favorite color is; and what's unique about their personality that a theme could be built around.2. Allow your child to help. Let them have a say about colors, fabrics, and how they want to display their collectibles.3. Make the room multi-functional. Since children use their room for many activities besides sleeping, it should have several different zones, such as a play area, reading area, and entertainment area.4. Make storage a priority. Try shelving, large decorative wicker baskets, plastic see-through containers, and closets that contain plenty of shelving and racks.5. Keep window treatments simple. Avoid long draperies. Shades, blinds, and shorter curtains are safer choices. The fabric should be versatile, and patterns should be repeated in other items in the room, such as in pillows, quilts, lampshades, bed ruffles, etc.6. Choose the right lighting. A child's room should include both task lighting for homework and reading, and soothing light for quieter times. A nightlight is also important.7. Use wallpaper or paint to add color and texture. You can apply whimsical borders along the top edges of the walls, and clouds or stars on the ceiling. Make sure walls are washable, so if you are using paint, choose a semi-gloss or gloss finish. Kids love bright colors, but you should limit any strong color to only one wall.8. Allow your child to select the design theme. Here are just a few: firehouse fun room, starry night, angels, rainbows, unicorns, baseball, a bedroom for a princess, underwater scenery, outer space, race cars, airplanes, trains, jungle motifs, wizards and dragons, and dinosaurs.Decorating with your child offers a great opportunity to display your playful side, while doing some memorable family bonding, so have fun with it!About The AuthorMichael Holland is the creator of http://www.kids-rooms-and-crafts.com and http://www.home-decorating-made-easy.com. Strategies For Finding Topics To Write About

Strategies For Finding Topics To Write About

What possibly could I have to write about? I never was good at it anyway. It doesn't matter how hard I try, I just sit and stare and stare at a blank screen.Sound familiar? Don't worry. We all have gone through this. It happens to me periodically. If you experience this at any point, it is a good signal that you need a change in creative direction. Here are a few tips to help you find topics to write about and get your creative juices flowing.I personally like to write with pen and paper. For one, I can take it anywhere. Well, o.k. with a laptop you can take it almost where ever you wish as well. But, when the battery is gone and there is not a single electrical outlet in sight, I will still be sitting there writing until I get my fill. You periodically need to change your scenery. This always helps me. If I am at a block, I get up, take pen and paper and head out of the house. I frequent outdoor cafes when I can. The openness and fresh air helps me think. You can also just try a different part of your house.I try to at least keep a notebook, or sticky notes somewhere within reach at every point in the day. Why? Ideas usually come to me when I am not at my desk. One of the best ways I have developed to find new topics is to spend what I call "routine task time" thinking about recent articles I have read. Routine task time is the time you spend washing dishes, cleaning, driving home(of course pay attention to the road here as well!), etc. Make use of this time if you can.Write down any idea that comes to mind. Don't worry about whether is seems reasonable at the moment. You will edit and refine later if need be. More than likely you will throw away half of the ideas you come up with. You'll find however that these ideas bring out other topics that you may never have thought about.Go to the web. I can't stress this enough. Need new topics? See what other people are writing about. Try www.CNet.com, or any other internet / technology or business website to find the new hot topics. Are you writing about hobbies? Check out the top hobby sites. Don't hesitate to use the internet and what others are doing to keep your writing up to par.Writing articles for your own E-Zine or to be published elsewhere for advertising is the most powerful resource for promoting your online business. Practice it, develop it, prune it. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. This is the most prized resource that you can pull from to succeed online.About The AuthorDan J. Personal Journaling – Strategies To Make It Easy

Personal Journaling - Strategies To Make It Easy

Recently I was watching the Oprah show and it was about doing something really great in someones life. Was it buying them a special gift? Or taking them out? Not really. It was about saying something really special to them. Telling a child how beautiful they are. Telling someone you love how you appreciate their beauty, how you love spending your life with them.Comments like these last for that person and makes an "imprint" on them for the rest of their life. Especially to children. When I was a child my mother had an album for me, you know the magnetic kind. But she did something different....She wrote words of love on the pages.I remember sitting and looking at my album over and over at the pen on those pages, know how much she loved me because I read those words over and over. They also say, "Children live what they learn."Isn't that so true?We all know as scrapbookers how important journaling is to our albums, but alot of us get stuck with what to say.Sometimes we feel like robots writing down, the place time, etc.Next time you sit down to journal remember that your child will read your words over and over. And how much your love will be conveyed to them. You don't need to write a long story about your day to the beach. Even simple statements can show your child how you loved your day with them.Personal journaling is exactly that. Your own personal story about your time with your child.Learn how to convey your true self to your child. Honour your day with your handwriting, and your child will read it over and over again like I did as a child.Enjoy journaling for your baby!Vera Raposo has been giving away free baby scrapbooking tips since 2003. With 3 children of her own she realizes the importance of remembering your history with scrapbooking. Vera is now sharing some of her fun tips here. http://www.scrapbooking-baby-magazine.com/free-clipart.html
